The President of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, Dr. Jacqueline Sharpe has paid a courtesy call on the Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. W. O. Ellis. The Board of Trustees for the S T. Nankani Scholarship Scheme has presented awards to 10 second year brilliant but needy students of KNUST. The Department of Optometry and Visual Science was established in 1991 with six students who graduated with diplomas. It has gradually been transformed and now students, who are admitted to pursue the course, do graduate after six years with a degree.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Kofi Opoku Manu, has visited the KNUST Campus to acquaint himself with the current spate of problems as regards water and electricity supply. The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IBIS-TEK through the Technology Consultancy Centre of the College of Engineering to establish first Technology Park of its kind in the West Africa sub Region. The park would be located at Adako Jachie in Kumasi.

A three-day workshop on the emerging Oil and Gas in Ghana has been organised for Twenty-Five young Professionals from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology at the Engineering Guest House. Selected participants for the maiden edition of the workshop were top final year students across all the programmes in the College of Engineering.
