The 6th Session of the KNUST 45th Congregation has been held for graduands of the Faculty of Law in the College of Art and Social Sciences, and some Departments in the College of Engineering. The joint graduation ceremony was organised in the morning for the Faculty of Law, and some Engineering Departments including Chemical, Materials, Civil, Geomatic, and Geological.
As part of the 45th Congregation calendar, deserving graduands of the Faculty of Art and, KNUST School of Business (KSB) both in the College of Art and Social Sciences were awarded Bachelor degrees at the Great Hall.
The Faculty of Social Sciences, reputed as the biggest Faculty of KNUST in terms of student population, has presented 1,043 graduands at the 45th Congregation ceremony on the third day for award of degrees.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor W.O. Ellis, has commended the academic and support staff of KNUST for their immense contribution towards the human capital development of the country, and also for their commitment among other things, in instilling professionalism, endurance, and enthusiasm in students.
As part of efforts to meet the manpower requirements of the country, the College of Health Sciences is to mount new programmes including Bachelor of Science in Disability and Rehabilitation, Midwifery, Radiography, and General Nursing from the 2011/2012 academic year. The rest are Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences; Doctor of Pharmacy, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

At around 16:45 GMT, the seats in the great hall were steadily being seized by anxious final years who had arrived for their rehearsals. Gradually, the hall was almost filed.
