Vacancy for the Position of Registrar
THE COUNCIL of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, announces that the position of the REGISTRAR of the University shall become vacant on 1ST AUGUST, 2025.
THE UNIVERSITY
Established in October 1951, KNUST is the foremost and leading Science and Technology institution in Ghana and one of the most esteemed in Africa. The Times Higher Education in 2023, adjudged KNUST as the best University for the provision of Quality Education (SDG 4) globally. KNUST has a Student Population of over 80,000 and staff strength of 6,050. The University provides an environment for teaching, research and entrepreneurship training in science and technology for the industrial and socio-economic development of Ghana, and the world at large. KNUST is positioned to attract scholars, industrialists and entrepreneurs from Africa and the international community.
THE POSITION
- The Registrar is Secretary to the University Council as provided by the Act.
- He/She shall serve as the Chief Administrative Officer of the University under the Vice-Chancellor.
- He/She shall provide strategic advice and briefings to the Vice-Chancellor and is expected to provide leadership across a wide range of University activities.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of a Master’s Degree with not less than Ten (10) years post-qualification working experience in a tertiary educational institution or analogous body; and,
- Must be at least a Deputy Registrar or equivalent grade;
- Candidates with substantial Senior Management experience in a large, complex and decentralised organisation, may be considered.
THE PERSON
The Person must:
- have strong intellect with excellent managerial, communication and interpersonal skills,
- have a deep appreciation and understanding of the academic environment of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi
- understand the history and evolution of universities in Ghana and the global trends and practices of higher education,
- have considerable experience in dealing with a wide variety of internal and external publics,
- have good working knowledge and appreciation of 21st Century skills required of contemporary university administrator,
- be principled with strong and proven sense of morality and integrity
The eligible candidate should be able to complete a term of Five (5) Years in Office before his/her Sixtieth (60th) Birthday.

- Application Letter.
- Curriculum Vitae with three (3) Referees. Candidates are required to inform their referees to send their recommendation letters directly to the address below.
- A statement of up to FIVE (5) pages in standard font size 12 and one-and-half line spacing, indicating how to support the Council and the Vice-Chancellor in advancing the Vision and Mission of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
