Call for Applications for Appointments as Research Support Fellows
DIRECTORATE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS AND GRADUATE STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION OF GHANA, KNUST CHAPTER
The Graduate Students' Association of Ghana (GRASAG) KNUST Chapter, under the Directorate of Student Affairs (DoSA), is an Association which represents graduate students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST). The primary function of the association is to improve the academic, social, and general welfare of all students pursuing post-graduate programs at KNUST. The association has three (3) vacancies and invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the under listed positions:
- Research Support Fellow (Applied Science)
- Research Support Fellow (Pure Mathematics)
- Research Support Fellow (Social Sciences)
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate must:
- Have a minimum of a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) with 2 years’ experience in research.
- Have experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies from either applied science, pure mathematics, or social science.
- Have good analytical skills, writing skills, and excellent organizational skills.
- Be competent in the use of quantitative and qualitative data analysis software such as SPSS, Stata, R, NVivo, ATLAS.ti., MAXQDA, among others
- Have the ability to manage open academic research and associated activities and contribute to ideas for new research projects.
- Have experience in leading and developing a program of research including the ability to design and manage both qualitative and quantitative research in the areas of policy evaluation
- Have ability to analyze and interpret research results with a minimum of two (2) publications to his or her credit.
- Have participated and/or presented at a conference.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate shall among others:
- be responsible for assisting postgraduate students in carrying out their research works
- offer technical assistance to postgraduate students and facilitate their research activities.
- assist graduate students to publish research findings in high impact journals to dissemination of their scholarly work.
- publicize research opportunities for graduate students and support them to apply.
- collaborate with the GRASAG Welfare Committee to provide Emotional and Welfare support to students engaged in research.
- facilitate the commercialization of research outcomes of graduate students’ research contributing to the practical application of scholarly work in collaboration with relevant offices within and outside the University.
- seek for research-related consultancy as part of IGF strategies and execute same.
Remuneration
Salary, allowances and other emoluments are attractive.
