Call for Admission: Graduate Entry Veterinary Medicine Programme for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, School of Veterinary Medicine (KNUST-SVM) invites applications for the Graduate Entry Veterinary Medicine Programme for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

  1. Overview of the Programme:

The Graduate Entry Veterinary Medicine Programme at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is designed for individuals with BSc. Biology, BSc. Biomedical Science, BSc. Veterinary Nursing, BSc. Animal Health and Production and BSc. Agriculture or analogues degrees. In addition, applicants must satisfy the minimum Entry Requirement for admission into the degree programmes at KNUST.

Structure of the programme:

The Graduate Entry Veterinary Medicine programme is structured in two phases: the pre/para-clinical component and clinical component, ensuring that students receive a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of Veterinary Medicine.

  • Pre/para-Clinical Component: Four (4) semesters of Sixteen (16) weeks each.
  • Clinical Component: Two (2) years of clinical training in various healthcare settings.

Upon completion, graduates will be awarded the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, preparing them for roles within both the Public and Private Animal Healthcare sectors in Ghana and beyond.

  1. Nature of the Programme and Duration:

The Graduate Entry Veterinary Medicine Programme is an intensive, full-time programme designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills in delivering excellent Animal Healthcare Services. The programme consists of:

  • Pre/para-Clinical Component: This part of the programme includes foundational Veterinary Medical courses in subjects such as Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology. It will last for (Two 2 years).
  • Clinical Component: After a successful completion of the pre-clinical component, students will enter the clinical phase, which will last for Two (2) years. During this phase, students will gain hands-on experience in the entire Animal Healthcare terrain.
  1. Entry Requirements

A. First Degree

Applicants should have a good BSc Degree in the following programmes: Biology, Biomedical Science, Veterinary Nursing, Animal Health and Production and Agriculture or analogues degrees.

IN ADDITION

B. Applicants should have at least credit passes (A1-C6/A-D respectively) in the following: Three (3) Core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science plus credit passes (A1-C6/A-D) in Three (3) Elective subjects in science, relevant to the programme from WASSCE/SSSCE. OR GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Applicants: Applicants should have at least credit passes in Five (5) subjects at the GCE ‘O’ Level (or its equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics plus at least credit passes in Three (3) subjects at the Advanced Level, relevant to the programme. OR

C. Other Qualifications:

  • International Applicants: Applicants in this category and all others who have the qualifications in (3a) above and their equivalents from an accredited/recognized institutions may apply.
  • Applicants from French speaking countries must in addition, provide a minimum of One-Year English Proficiency Certificate.

D. Additional Requirements: Short listed applicants must pass an Entrance Examination and selection interview.

  • Application Period: July 20, 2026 to August 31, 2026. 
  • Shortlisted Applicants: 1st to 2nd week in September, 2026. 
  • Access Course: 3rd to 4th week in September, 2026.  
  • Access Course Examinations: End of September, 2026.
  • Interviews: 1st week in September, 2026

  • Login and purchase a voucher via Mastercard, Visa or Mobile Money.
