Call for Applications for SEED Student Initiative Founder at KNUST

The TUM SEED Centre for Sustainable Energies, Entrepreneurship and Development at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) aims at offering higher education at the intersection of sustainable energies and entrepreneurship and conducting research to contribute to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (www.seed.tum.de). The TUM SEED Centre is funded by DAAD and collaborates with eight leading technical universities in the Global South, including Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia), Bandung Institute of Technology (Indonesia), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (India), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Kenya), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (Ghana), Makerere University (Uganda), Namibia University of Science and Technology (Namibia), and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Peru). To establish student organisations, at the partner universities, related to sustainable energies, the TUM SEED Centre is looking for:

SEED Student initiative founder at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology

The scholarship will start on May 1 until December 31, 2023, with the possibility of prolongation. 

Your tasks include:

  • Establish a new student organisation at your university that focuses on sustainable energies, entrepreneurship and development (SEED)
  • Initiate and form a team of engaged students at partner university 
  • Coordinate and organize events and activities to raise awareness and educate students at partner university about renewable energy technology and its potential benefits for rural areas
  • Engage with local communities to set up and implement sustainable energy projects (“Living Lab”) 
  • Develop and implement a plan for the initiative, including setting goals, timelines, and budget
  • Reach out to and coordinate with various stakeholders, including start-ups, firms, local communities, NGOs, and governments
  • Set up a network with the other newly founded student organisations from other partner universities of the TUM SEED Centre

Your profile:

  • Currently enrolled as a student (bachelor or master level) in a relevant field, such as management, engineering or environmental studies TUM SEED Centre is funded by:   
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for sustainable energies and experience in the field 
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Willingness to work in a flexible schedule
  • Eager to travel and able to travel to rural areas

We offer: 

  • A student scholarship as compensation for the position, 268 € per month
  • The opportunity to gain hands-on experience and make a meaningful impact in the field of sustainable energies
  • Networking opportunities with founders of start-ups, industry professionals and experts in the field
  • The possibility to connect with other student initiative founders from various partner universities and learn from each other
  • Workshop at one of our partner universities, which will be held by the student organisation TUM eMpower Africa, a well-established student organisation in the field of sustainable energies
