Call for Applications for Appointment as Chief Security Officer
It is announced for the information of suitable candidates that the University is seeking to recruit a Chief Security Officer for its Obuasi Campus.
The Person
The person must:
- possess a minimum of a first degree in psychology, sociology, human resource management, or any other relevant certificate from a recognised institution
- have served or serving in the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Armed Forces or any other security service not below the rank of an Inspector, Chief Inspector, Warrant Officer I, Warrant Officer II, or its equivalences
- have undergone Drill and Duties Course and all relevant courses undertaken by officers in (ii) above
- be proficient in Office 365 Suite – especially, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- be able to operate with utmost discretion when needed
- have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- have analytical and investigative skills and the ability to take sound and impartial judgement
- be able to effectively manage teams, exhibit maturity and calmness
- have the capability to manage crisis situations
In all cases, the applicant must not be more that fifty (50) years old by August 01, 2026. The duty post shall be the KNUST Obuasi Campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist the University Security Services Management to:
- plan, direct and coordinate security activities to ensure security and safety of lives and property on Obuasi campus.
- command and control Security Officers and Contract Security Guards in the performance of duties.
- organise training for security officers and guards on Obuasi campus.
- organise Muster Parades for the security officers and guards.
- conduct Security Awareness programmes on campus for students and staff.
- ensure the implementation and compliance of security policies, procedures and directives.
- investigate security breaches and report on same to KNUST Security Services management.
- submit daily Situation Reports and Incident Reports to the Head of KNUST Security Services
- supervise the performance of any contracted Private Security Company on campus.
- liaise with local security services and agencies in Obuasi and its environs to ensure the security and safety of the campus.
- perform any other security and public safety duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Terms of Appointment
The appointment is on full-time basis. Salary and fringe benefits attached to the post is attractive.
