ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ADMISSIONS INTO LIMITED GRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN

MODE OF APPLICATION

Sale of E-Vouchers/Forms for admission has commence on Monday, 6th November, 2017.

1. First of all, candidates must purchase an eVoucher by paying an application fee of Two Hundred and Twenty Ghana Cedis (GH¢220.00) at the following banks: GCB, Ecobank or uniBank.

2. Upon payment of the application fee, candidates will receive an eVoucher containing an application number and PIN that will grant access to the online admissions portal.

3. Candidates should then proceed to online admissions website and begin the application process. Click here https://apps.knust.edu.gh/admissions/apply to begin

4. Once the process has been completed, candidates must print out 3 copies of the completed application form from the portal and submit them (by post) to the School of Graduate Studies along with all relevant documents (Photocopies of Certificates, Recommendation Letters, and [Transcript for those attending KNUST for the first time]) to the following address:

1. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL AND BIOSYSTEMS ENGINEERING

• Masters Degree in Intellectual Property (MIP)

The Degree is jointly offered by the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi and Intellectual Property Office of Ghana.

Duration

The duration is Twenty-four months, from February 28, 2018 to February 28, 2020 including holidays, structured in two parts, as follows:

• First Year (February 2018 to December, 2018): Residential phase requiring physical attendance at lectures undertaken at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana.

• Second Year (January 2019 to February, 2020: Dissertation Phase requiring research and writing on an approved research topic.

The Programme adopts a comparative approach, with particular emphasis on Africa. Lectures are given by leading academics, intellectual property practitioners, intellectual property officers and other experts drawn from across Africa.

Entry Requirements

Eligible candidates are required to hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (second class lower) from a recognized university in any discipline and have a minimum of two years work experience. Proof of English proficiency is required, therefore, students coming from countries where the official language is not English will need to submit evidence of proficiency in an appropriate internationally approved English examination e.g IELTS, TOEFL AWARD. Upon satisfactory completion of the programme, participants will be awarded a Masters Degree in Intellectual Property (MIP) by KNUST on behalf of ARIPO. 

Scholarships

With a view to contributing to the development of human resources in the field of Intellectual Property in Africa, ARIPO will provide 5 scholarships for the 2017/2018 Academic Year. The scholarship shall cover the cost of a return air ticket, board and lodge at KNUST, tuition fees, registration fees and medical insurance.  

2. CENTRE FOR CULTURAL AND AFRICAN STUDIES (CeCASt)

• MPhil Chieftaincy and Traditional Leadership Studies.

• MA Chieftaincy and Traditional Leadership Studies.

• Postgraduate Diploma in Chieftaincy and Traditional Leadership Studies.

• Postgraduate Certificate in Chieftaincy and Traditional Leadership Studies.

• Certificate of Participation in Chieftaincy and Traditional Leadership Studies.

The Programmes shall start in January 2018.

Target Group

The Programmes target chiefs and practitioners in various sectors who need to upgrade their competency skills to be able to effectively deliver on their mandates and resolve challenges in the chieftaincy institution. Institutions that may benefit from the programme may include the National and Regional Houses of Chiefs, Ministry of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Non-Governmental Organizations, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Forestry Commission, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Ministry of Energy and Mines, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, and the Law Enforcement Agencies, as well as fresh graduates.

Duration and Entry Requirements

The Master of Philosophy is a modular programme of two years’ duration and divided into four modules. Participants/Students may therefore enroll for the programme and terminate their studies after completing one or two modules and obtain a certificate of participation or may continue to complete all four modules and obtain a Master of Philosophy degree.

Participants who wish to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma, a Master of Art or Master of Philosophy degree must be holders of a good bachelors degree (1st Class or 2nd Class Upper or their equivalent) in engineering, science, health and the humanities. Applicants with 2nd Class Lower with some work experience may be admitted. Applicants who wish to earn only certificates of participation may be admitted with higher school certificate. All applicants will be admitted upon passing an interview.
