WiSTEMGh Girls’ Camp 2024: Empowering Future Female STEM Leaders
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana’s premier Science and Technology University, remains dedicated to supporting women and girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Through the Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics - Ghana (WiSTEMGh) initiative, KNUST is addressing the gender gap in STEM education and careers.
The WiSTEMGh Girls’ Camp 2024 is a key event in this effort, designed to inspire and empower young girls to explore and excel in STEM fields. This year’s camp, themed “Accelerating Progress: Investing in Girls through STEM Education,” will be held from Sunday, 8th to Friday, 12th September 2024 at the Allotey Auditorium, College of Science, KNUST.
Why Attend?
Women and girls remain underrepresented in STEM fields, even though their contributions are crucial to driving innovation. Thus, the WiSTEMGh Girls’ Camp is dedicated to changing this by:
- Inspiring interest in STEM through interactive sessions.
- Equipping women and girls with practical STEM skills.
- Building confidence and leadership for women and girls in STEM education.
- Connecting women and girls with STEM mentors.
- Raising awareness of diverse STEM careers.

- Gender-Responsive STEM Education
- AI and STEM Education
- Wellness and Financial Literacy, among others
Also participants will engage in hands-on activities and connect with accomplished STEM professionals for mentorship and guidance.
Who Can Attend?
The camp is open to selected Senior High School girls, educators, parents, STEM professionals and enthusiasts committed to nurturing female leaders in STEM.
