Amnesty for Postgraduate Students Who Have Exceeded their Programme Duration

At its 434th (Regular) Meeting held on Thursday, 14th August, 2025, the Academic Board considered and approved the request of the School of Graduate Studies to grant one (1) Academic Year Amnesty (for the entire 2025/2036 Academic Year) to all postgraduate students who have overstayed their programme duration.

Consequently, the School of Graduate Studies wishes to inform all postgraduate students who fall within the following category:

  1. Students trailing course(s) are to take advantage of the upcoming Supplementary Examinations scheduled for 17th to 28th November, 2025. Students who are unable to redeem their trails after the Supplementary Examination are advised to take advantage of the End of the First and Second Semester Examinations of the 2025/2026 Academic Year to resit them.
  2. Students who have no trails and have CWAs of 55.00 or above should complete and submit their respective thesis on the Thesis Deposition and Management System (TDMS) by August 15, 2026, for processing and assessment.
  3. Kindly note that students who obtained the pass mark after the thesis assessment will be invited for the oral defence on a date to be communicated in due course.
  4. Students who are unable to complete their programme of study by the end of the 2025/2026 academic year (the amnesty period) will be deemed to have abandoned their programme and will be subsequently withdrawn from the programme.

Note: Students who want to take advantage of the amnesty should download the “Amnesty Form” via (here!) and submit the completed form to amnesty.sgs@knust.edu.gh.
