The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has trained more than 290 faculty members from the University and its affiliated institutions in generative artificial intelligence to support teaching, learning and research.
The virtual training, organised by the KNUST E-Learning Centre in partnership with Google for Education, marked the completion of the first phase of the Gemini Academy initiative.
Participants explored the use of generative AI in teaching and research, with emphasis on practical applications and responsible adoption in academic work.
An in-person, hands-on session scheduled for October will build on the virtual training, giving participants opportunities to apply AI tools to their teaching and research activities.
The next phase will also focus on developing faculty and student champions to support the responsible use of AI across the University.
The programme forms part of KNUST’s efforts to strengthen digital skills among its academic community and integrate emerging technologies into teaching, learning and research.
