Prof. Akwasi Antwi-Kusi, dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been honoured for his leadership and contributions to the school ahead of the end of his tenure on October 30, 2026.

The presentation took place on October 8, recognising his efforts to involve alumni and other stakeholders in the school’s development.

Dr. Ernest Kwadwo Puni Kwarko commended Prof. Antwi-Kusi for his openness to ideas and willingness to engage alumni and others in advancing the school.
“For you to achieve greater heights, you need to build a network. You need to move with other people,” Quaicoe said.
He said Antwi-Kusi’s approach had created opportunities for others to support the school’s development.
Prof. Antwi-Kusi said space had been created to accommodate about 300 students as part of efforts to improve teaching and learning. An existing classroom was also being expanded to provide a more comfortable learning environment.
“We are a university of technology. So we have to follow that,” he said.
A media room has also been established to support webinars, interviews and lectures, while plans are under way to develop a simulation centre.
Prof. John Jude Kweku Annan, head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, presented a citation on behalf of Quaicoe.
The citation recognised Antwi-Kusi’s contributions to infrastructure, staff capacity building, institutional visibility and alumni engagement. It described his leadership and service as an “enduring legacy” in the school’s advancement.
Prof. Antwi-Kusi expressed appreciation for the recognition and thanked the school and other stakeholders for their support during his tenure.
