Dr. Bhavana Singh of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has been appointed a mentor for the Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship (WGHLF) at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, Canada.

The appointment will see her mentor women selected for the fellowship from across Africa, providing leadership guidance and drawing on her professional experience to support the development of emerging and mid-career women leaders in global health.

Dr. Singh initially applied to participate in the fellowship but was instead invited to join its mentor team after the selection committee assessed her experience and the seniority of her current role.

In its invitation, the fellowship said her extensive professional background could make a greater contribution at the leadership level.

“Because of your extensive background, we believe your expertise would be most impactful in a leadership capacity within the fellowship,” the programme said in the invitation.

The fellowship described mentors as a core part of the programme, providing guidance to early-to-mid-career participants. Mentors also receive orientation and training and engage with other mentor leads from Kenya, South Africa and Canada.

Dr. Singh will join the mentor cohort beginning in September 2026.

The Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship is run through the Centre for Global Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and focuses on strengthening leadership capacity among women working in global health.
