Professor Hannah Vivian Osei has been elected as the first female Chair of the Council of Convocation at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
Prof. Osei, an Associate Professor of Human Resource Management at the KNUST School of Business, received 482 votes, with her contender, Professor Clement Osei Akoto, obtaining 270. The results were certified by the Registrar and Returning Officer, Benjamin B. Owusu, Esq. She will assume office on January 1, 2026, for a two-year term ending December 31, 2027.
Prof. Osei brings a research background rooted in organisational behaviour and human capital development. Her scholarship examines how workplace environments shape employee well-being, professional identity, and performance.
She has published research on organisational commitment and career satisfaction among health-sector workers, including studies on burnout, gender dynamics and the psychological factors influencing retention.
Her work also addresses leadership and workplace culture, with particular attention to the effects of managerial behaviour on employee morale and productivity.
In addition, she has contributed to studies on the role of personality, motivation and technology adoption in higher education and professional learning environments, and has undertaken research on entrepreneurial orientation and sustainability strategies within small and medium enterprises.
Her academic portfolio aligns closely with governance priorities such as staff development, institutional performance and organisational climate.
As Chair of the Council of Convocation, Prof. Osei will represent the views of senior academic and administrative members on the University Council.
