The academic community of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has joined the nation in celebrating former Vice-Chancellor Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, following his appointment as Ghana’s High Commissioner to the Republic of India.
In a distinguished gesture marking the transition, the Chancellor of KNUST, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, hosted a special send-off luncheon at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Held in the historic setting of the palace, the occasion underscored the enduring bond between the University, the Ashanti Kingdom, and the newly appointed High Commissioner.
The event was attended by the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, and former Vice-Chancellor, Professor William Otoo Ellis, reflecting institutional pride and continuity.
The gathering celebrated Professor Obiri-Danso’s distinguished service and leadership during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor, a period marked by notable infrastructural and academic developments at KNUST.
The celebratory atmosphere was heightened by the surprise attendance of His Royal Majesty, the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, whose presence underscored the national significance of the occasion.
