The Faculty of Social Sciences under the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CoHSS), KNUST, has organised a get-together to strengthen bonds among staff and usher in the new academic semester with renewed energy.
The event, held at the faculty’s new block, brought together lecturers, administrators, teaching assistants, and support staff in an atmosphere of fun, games, and food. Activities included table tennis, local board games such as dame and oware, as well as a barbecue that featured chicken, fish, gizzard, and assorted local drinks.
Professor Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, explained that the gathering was an opportunity for colleagues to unwind after months of hard work while reinforcing unity and collaboration.
“When we’ve done a hard day of work and are satisfied that we’ve paid our dues, it is good for us to also satisfy the soul. This get-together is to ensure that the sense of unity is built on. We’ve worked together as colleagues; we also have to meet as friends and family,” he said.
He added that the faculty is looking forward to the coming semester with a united front, renewed capacity, and resilience to meet growing expectations in academia and society.
“We understand that the workload will continue increasing, but we must find a good way to build unity. Like the eagle that sheds its feathers to soar higher, we too are unwinding so that we return stronger for the semester ahead,” he noted.
Prof. Adu-Gyamfi commended all categories of staff for their contribution to the success of the faculty and emphasised the importance of such gatherings in strengthening institutional culture.
