The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), proudly celebrates the appointment of Professor Matthew Glover Addo as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of Ghana (CUG).
Professor Addo brings to CUG over two decades of experience in university teaching, research, and institutional leadership.
A proud alumnus of KNUST, he earned his BSc in Biological Sciences in 1992 and later pursued advanced studies in Norway and France, culminating in a joint Doctor of Science/PhD in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from Université Paris Sud XI and KNUST.
At KNUST, Professor Addo served in numerous high-impact roles, including:
- Director of the Institute of Distance Learning (2022–2024)
- Dean of the Faculty of Biosciences
- Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Biology
- Chairman and Member of several University Boards and Committees, including Admissions, Planning, and Welfare.
His research spans mitochondrial genome stability, microbial profiling in chronic wounds, malaria biomarkers, and food safety microbiology.
As Vice-Chancellor of CUG, Professor Addo is poised to lead with vision and integrity, advancing the University’s mission of holistic, ethical, and innovative education.
