Third-year Hospitality and Tourism Management students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, have staged an exhibition and business pitch showcasing a range of innovative products and services.
The students presented projects blending creativity with market potential, aimed at improving customer experiences in tourism, hospitality and daily living.
Among the highlights was Cultour.gh, a tourism-focused website designed to help international visitors book hotels, restaurants and recreational facilities during festivals and events, offering convenience and comfort.
Other innovations included Freshtab, a tablet toothpaste providing a compact alternative to traditional tubes; Bubble Drop, bath bombs aimed at relieving stress, pain and insomnia; and Adoza Instant Shito, a powdered, pre-packaged version of the popular Ghanaian condiment, ready to cook.
Also on display were Rootella, a tiger nut-based spread similar to groundnut paste; Soyasplash, a nutritious drink made from tiger nuts and soybeans; Vitalnut Flour and Pastries, a powdered flour blend for cookies, biscuits and porridge; and Chicken Crunch, pre-marinated and spiced fried chicken.
Students said the exhibition provided a platform to turn classroom knowledge into practical solutions and address market gaps from quicker, more convenient food preparation to healthier beverages, eco-friendly personal care products and technology that streamlines business interactions.
Attendees included Professor Kwame Owusu, Head of the Department of Supply Chain and Information Logistics; Professor Ahmed Agyapong, Dean of the School of Business; Dr Samuel Akoamoah, Head of the Centre for Business Development; and the reigning Miss Digital KNUST.
