The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology School of Business (KSB) has welcomed its victorious team from the 2025 Tertiary Business Sense Challenge (TBSC), celebrating yet another milestone in the school’s history of academic excellence and setting its sights on a back-to-back win in 2026.
The team comprised Mr. Daniel Ekow Baffoe, Mr. Kwadwo Acheampong Opoku, Mr. Fredrick Asontoliya, and Mr. Japheth Adeleke, led by coach Samuel Bimpong.

Professor Ahmed Agyapong, the Dean of the School of Business, lauded the students for their resilience in winning the contest.
“This is not the first time we have won this trophy. We claimed it in 2022, and today we celebrate again. We have every reason to be happy and to the team I want to say that you have done so well, and we are proud of you,” he said.
Professor Henry Kofi Mensah, Patron of the KNUST School of Business Students' Association (KSBSA), called for early preparation towards future competitions.
“We probably need to start the next preparation from now to groom them from first year to win some of these awards,” he stated.
He further urged management to strategically invest in students from their first year to create a succession plan for sustained success. Professor Ahmed agreed with the suggestion, noting that management would take it up and support the team in nurturing future contestants.
The Deputy Registrar for Academic Affairs, Mr. Charles Asamoah Boateng, congratulated the team for upholding the name of the school and encouraged them to leverage this success for personal and professional growth.
“I believe this win will open doors for you and strengthen your CV. Take advantage of every opportunity to showcase your skills,” he advised.
Lord Kelvin Atisu, a past contestant in 2022 who emerged victorious and served as a coach for this year’s team, shared insights into the preparation towards the contest and expressed hope for a back-to-back win next year.
“It was tedious with the concepts that the students had to learn, but at the end of the day, we came out as winners and it was monumental to have everything aligned for us. We are making plans to win it back-to-back for next year,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to management, sponsors, and fellow coaches for their support during training and preparation. The coaching team comprised Samuel Bimpong, Vitalis Bangmeyiri, Nketiah Sarfo Kelvin, Osei Twum, Divine Kpodo, Prince Adofo, and Eric Ofosu, all past students and former contestants. He also acknowledged Prof. Ahmed Agyapong and Prof. Henry Mensah for their leadership and encouragement.
One of the contestants, Mr. Kwadwo Acheampong Opoku, a final year Accounting student, also expressed appreciation to management.
“We want to say thank you for the support from management. We are very grateful,” he said.
The team received laptops each, a television, books in management and accounting, a trophy, and souvenirs from sponsors. They also received a cash prize of GHS 2,000 for emerging as the Best School in the Business Case Challenge, while Mr. Kwadwo Acheampong Opoku received an additional GHS 2,000 for winning the Overall Best Male Contestant award.
Kwadwo’s achievement, he said, was the result of a journey that began in his first year at the university. “I started my ICAG journey with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana, after my first year,” he said.
He credited his friend, Enoch Sarpong, with encouraging him to pursue professional accounting qualifications. “One of the people who has been instrumental in my journey is my friend Enoch Sarpong, who pushed me to apply for the ICAG. I can’t thank him enough,” he said.
Kwadwo’s ambition goes beyond academic prizes. “I hope that this award opens doors and creates platforms for me to work in one of the big firms in Ghana,” he said, adding that he dreams of joining one of the country’s top accounting firms.
During his ICAG professional accountancy qualification exams, Kwadwo won several wards including best student awards in financial accounting, financial reporting, audit and assurance, and overall best level two student.
He expressed appreciation to his lecturers, particularly Dr. Joseph Akadeagre Agana, for urging him to read widely and develop himself beyond the classroom. “I hope to have a bright future, and I want to continue making KNUST proud,” he said.
