The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) continues to demonstrate national relevance with the appointment of Professor Anthony Owusu-Ansah as the Acting Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission. The appointment, effective immediately, aligns with constitutional provisions and the Lands Commission Act.
A formal letter from the Secretary to the President, dated April 14, 2025, conveyed the news to Prof. Owusu-Ansah, requesting his acceptance within seven days. The appointment awaits constitutional advice from the Commission and the Public Services Commission.
Professor Owusu-Ansah, Head of the Department of Land Economy at KNUST and a Professor of Real Estate Finance and Economics, brings extensive academic and research experience to the role, underscoring KNUST’s pivotal contribution to national progress.
Renowned researcher and thought leader
Prof. Owusu-Ansah brings extensive academic and research experience to his new position. His body of work, comprising over 30 peer-reviewed publications and hundreds of citations, has significantly influenced housing economics, real estate markets, and land management research both in Ghana and internationally.
His impactful publications include widely cited works on research proposal writing, determinants of housing values in urban Ghana, hedonic pricing models in housing research, and developer constraints on housing supply.
He has also contributed significantly to research on land information management, property price indices, and the dynamics of rental housing. His 2018 book, “Construction and Application of Property Price Indices,” published by Routledge, is a key resource in the field.
Bridging academia and policy
Prior to his return to KNUST, Prof. Owusu-Ansah held the position of Associate Professor at the Business School of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), where he served in various leadership roles. His teaching expertise encompasses real estate economics, quantitative research, valuation, corporate finance, and financial management.
A professional member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors and an Associate Fellow of the British Higher Education Academy, Prof. Owusu-Ansah has also undertaken consultancy work in areas such as real estate valuation and land use planning.
