The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi through its flagship programme, the “Junior Science and Maths Quiz (JSMQ),” has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kessben Group of Companies to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in Ghana. The signing ceremony took place on 25th June 2024 at the Council Chamber of the University.
Professor Kwasi Preko, the Board Chairman of JSMQ and a Professor at the Department of Physics, noted that JSMQ aims to promote STEM education from the basic school level. He added that the MoU with Kessben is a strategic step to enhance the visibility and impact of the quiz competition.

Mr. Andrews Danso Aninkora, the General Manager of Kessben Group of Companies, expressed his excitement about the collaboration. He revealed that Kessben became interested in the activities of JSMQ last year after recognising the valuable work KNUST was doing in advancing STEM education across the nation. He mentioned the contribution of their sister company, Multicredit, which donated sixteen (16) new laptop computers to support the JSMQ. "This year, we have decided to amplify the competition's publicity through our channels," he added.

The Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson shared her delight in the partnership with Kessben. She emphasised KNUST's commitment to being a part of the educational value chain by nurturing young minds from the basic school level. Professor (Mrs.) Dickson highlighted the University's belief in the "catch them young" philosophy to ensure students are well-prepared from the foundational level to the University. She expressed her gratitude to Kessben Group of Companies for joining hands with KNUST to promote the quiz competition.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng, the Registrar of the University; Professor Leonard Amekudzi, the Provost of the College of Science; Professor Esmeralda Manful, the Vice Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO); Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar, University Relations Office; Mr. Anthony Agyapong, the Registrar of the College of Science and Mrs. Gladys Abla Addai, Senior Assistant Registrar, Dean's Office, Faculty of Biosciences. Others present from Kessben Group of Companies were Mrs. Christiana Addo, Head of Marketing and Sales; Mr. Prince Aggrey Dwumfour, TV Channel Manager; and Mr. Seth Wilson, Senior Camera Technician.
