The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the Embassy of France in Ghana have signed a partnership agreement. The agreement is the second to be signed by both parties since June 18th, 2013 and it replaces all previous agreements between the parties.
The new agreement shall remain in force for a period of five (5) years. Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, Vice-Chancellor, and Mr. Andrews K. Boateng, Registrar, signed for KNUST. H. E. Mrs. Anne Sophie AVÉ, the Ambassador of France to Ghana and Mr. Alexandre Foulon signed for the Embassy of France in Ghana.
The parties agreed to facilitate the teaching and learning of the French language in the University. Per the agreement, they would also encourage higher education cooperation between France and Ghana through student and faculty exchange programmes, research projects, organization of academic conferences and events.
The partnership would further facilitate international students’ mobility by promoting Campus France office activities, promote educational, linguistic and cultural programmes between both parties.
Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso thanked the French Government through the France Embassy for the long-standing friendship between Ghana and France particularly between the Embassy and KNUST.
Professor Obiri-Danso also thanked the Embassy for the continuous support to KNUST and indicated that a lot of KNUST staff and faculty have benefitted in diverse ways especially in capacity building and exchanges. He hoped the new agreement would further deepen the partnership for mutual benefit.
Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of France in Ghana, Alexandre Foulon, said his outfit would continue to support the University and encouraged staff and students to take advantage of the partnership to explore opportunities to benefit both parties.
