As part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine, KCCR, has donated a Latex agglutination Test Kit for H. influenzae to the KNUST Health Services. The value of the kit was estimated at the cost of Two Thousand five hundred Euros (€2,500. 00).
Presenting the donation, the Director of KCCR, Thomas Van Kampen stated that, the test kit is not meant for diagnosis of influenzae alone but also serves as a combo for rapid diagnosis of Meningitidis and Pneumoniae.
He added that, the donation was made in appreciation of their selfless effort and contribution towards eradication of the perennial bacterial meningitis in the region and the country at large.
He hoped that the kit would help curtail the problem in the region and its environs where the hospital’s services extend to.
The Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Yaw Bio, expressed his excitement and gratitude for the kind gesture of the benefactors. He promised that, notwithstanding the successes and integrity acquired by his facility, the hospital would continue to offer quality health care services to its innumerable clients and stakeholders. He called on other philanthropists to come to the aid of the University Health services so that they could widen their scope of services.
Present at the brief and vibrant ceremony were the Deputy Director of KCCR, Dr. Ellis Owusu-Dabo and the Hospital Administrator, Mr. Ofosu Agyare.
