Professor Seth Opuni Asiama, the immediate past Provost of the College of Architecture and Planning, has been honoured as the Distinguished Alumnus of KNUST for the year 2010, in recognition of his contribution towards the advancement of the Alumni Association in particular and the University at large.
The presentation was made at the launching ceremony of KNUST Alumni 6th Biennial National Congress by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. William O. Ellis, assisted by Mr. Tony Danklu, the National President of the Association and Honourable P.V. Obeng, Chairman of the University Council.
Giving an acceptance speech, Professor Asiama, expressed his appreciation to the Alumni Association for the honour. A citation read on his behalf, described Professor Asiama as a source of motivation and inspiration; a mentor during his tenure as General Secretary and National President, respectively, of the Alumni Association. He a has record as an internationally acclaimed academic, who manifested exemplary professionalism in the field of Valuation and Estate Surveying; served as a consultant to multi-national organizations and lectured in both local and international institutions.
As an astute Professor, he served as the Head of Department of Land Economy; Director of Institute of Land Management and Development, and Provost of the College of Architecture and Planning. He selflessly devoted his time, resources and knowledge to the welfare of the Association, locally and internationally, thereby yielding many fruits to the benefit of the Association.
Professor Asiama was best described as a faithful alumnus who played a pivotal role in restructuring the Alumni Association. Above all, he served commendably as General Secretary and National President of the Alumni Association.
