A Lecturer at the Department of Publishing Studies, KNUST, Reverend Dr. Edem Tettey, has been elected the moderator of the Global Evangelical Church. Rev. Dr. Tettey made this known in an exclusive interview with the University Relations Office.
At the recent 2011th Synod of the Global Evangelical Church held at the Pentecost University, Accra, out of three candidates, he polled fifty six (56) percent to become the Moderator-Elect. The Synod had participants from all the twelve (12) presbyteries in Ghana, Togo, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.
Rev. Dr. Tettey stated that the Christian Church has the core mandate to evangelise to nations, and just as his predecessors have made great strides in this regard , he would devise strategies to focus more on the rural areas and other countries.
He continued that he would also give more attention to technical and vocational training of the youth to empower them to be equipped with employable skills to fit into society. He noted that his priority would be with post secondary education to make the youth who are not able to continue their education, or those who do not have any employable skills fit into the society.
He also hoped that during his tenure as moderator, the Global Evangelical Church would grow between eighteen (18) to twenty (20) percent as against the current eighteen (18) percent both home and abroad.
