The Vice-Chancellor, Professor William Otoo Ellis is embarking on visits to the six Colleges in the University to share his vision for the University. The Vice-Chancellor's vision for the University is "to reposition the University as a global institution for Science and Technology with national development as its focus".
Meeting with the administrators of the Faculty of Law and School of Business, the Vice-Chancellor elaborated on his vision in a detailed presentation. He said that, science and technology are driven effectively by business and law. He explained at length his priority areas to be focused on during his time in office. He said, in the academic circles, he will concentrate more on research and the development of postgraduate training. He indicated that, continuous professional educational programmes would be increased. Other priority areas to be looked at are, Science and Technology research, Graduate Studies with greater emphasis on Science and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Quality Assurance, Capacity building and Collaborations.
As part of the implementation of his vision, the Vice-Chancellor urged the Provosts of the Colleges to restructure their time tables, into a centralized one. To move the University to another level, demand driven programmes would be introduced and old programmes would be reviewed, he said. The introduction and enforcement of performance-based appraisal system for all staff of the University, especially Senior Members, would be a matter of priority, he indicated.
Present at the meeting were the Acting Provost of the College of Art and Social Sciences and lecturers from the Faculty of Law and the School of Business.
