A delegation from the Muteesa I Royal University and the Kabaka Foundation in Uganda has visited KNUST to explore avenues of possible partnership and collaboration between the two institutions of higher learning.
The Minister of Education, Uganda and the Project Coordinator of Kabaka Foundation, Mr. Kaggwa Edward Kiddu Ndagala recounted issues about previous discussions held between the Chancellor of Muteesa I Royal University and KNUST's Chancellor, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in 2008. Mr. Kiddu Ndagala said that, the delegation's visit to the University was to discuss ways that Muteesa I Royal University and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology could work in partnership through education.
The Vice-Chancellor of Muteesa I Royal University, Professor Elisha G. Semakula briefed the Acting Pro. Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Prof. Peter Donkor, representing the Vice-Chancellor Prof. W. O. Ellis, on the structure of Muteesa I Royal University. He emphasized that, the University had its main campus in Kirumba - Masaka town 120km west of Kampala and the other in Kampala City at Kakeeka - Mengo. He mentioned that 60% of the students in the University are females. He stated that, the collaboration with KNUST would concentrate on areas such as research, staff and student exchange as well as programme development.
In a response, the Acting Pro. Vice-Chancellor welcomed the delegation and explained the administrative structure of KNUST to them, thus the Collegiate system and the programmes the Colleges run. He added that, the University would examine the documentations of Muteesa I Royal University and identify the areas the two Universities could establish a partnership.
The two bodies exchanged souvenirs.
