Two Faculty Members of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, have been honoured with prestigious international awards for their outstanding contributions and excellence in their respective fields. The awardees, Dr. Ralph Nyadu-Addo and Dr. Yesuenyeagbe Atsu Kwabla Fiagbe presented their awards to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, at the Council Chamber of the University on Wednesday, 26th June, 2024.

Dr. Ralph Nyadu-Addo, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Publishing Studies, KNUST, was honoured with a prestigious state award from the President of the German State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for his selfless service in promoting Ghana-German cooperation, particularly through his involvement in the African Centre for Career Enhancement and Skills Support (ACCESS) Project. Dr. Yesuenyeagbe Atsu Kwabla Fiagbe, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, also received an international award in Germany for his innovative Kente Weaver prototype machine at the Born Global Start-up Festival, highlighting his ingenuity and contributions to technological advancements in textile manufacturing.

Professor Daniel Y. A. Duah, Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO), KNUST, emphasised the Vice-Chancellor’s consistent encouragement for staff and students to strive for excellence, which has led to such outstanding accomplishments by KNUST faculty members.

On behalf of the University Management, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson congratulated the awardees and commended them for promoting the name of KNUST on the international stage. She emphasised that their achievements embody one of KNUST’s core values, the “Culture of Excellence.” Professor (Mrs.) Dickson also encouraged them to continue their exemplary work and excellence. “KNUST is proud of you for making us proud and putting us on the map,” she remarked.
In their remarks, both Dr. Nyadu-Addo and Dr. Fiagbe expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Vice-Chancellor for her support and encouragement. They acknowledged her significant role in their journey towards these international recognitions.
