The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), Kumasi, Professor Christian Agyare, has received a delegation from Telecel Ghana at the Council Chamber during a courtesy call following his investiture.
The delegation, led by the company's Finance Director, Samuel Owusu-Mensah, conveyed congratulations from Telecel Ghana's leadership and reaffirmed the company's commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with the University.
Mr. Owusu-Mensah said Telecel Ghana, formerly Vodafone Ghana, has maintained a relationship with KNUST for more than two decades and regards the University as one of its most valued institutional partners. He assured the Vice-Chancellor of the company's continued support.
"We are 100 percent in support of you. Any time you need our support in any capacity at all, we are just a phone call away. Today's visit is not about business; it is purely a courtesy call to congratulate you and wish you every success in your new role."
Professor Agyare thanked Telecel Ghana for the visit and acknowledged the company's longstanding contribution to the University's development through various partnerships and student-centred initiatives.
"On behalf of the Management and the entire KNUST community, I sincerely appreciate your visit and your goodwill. I hope the relationship and collaboration that we have built over the years will be strengthened under my leadership for the benefit of the University and, most importantly, our students," he said.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged Telecel Ghana to expand its collaboration with the University beyond financial support to include initiatives that enhance graduate employability and industry readiness.
He said that while KNUST continues to produce graduates with strong academic knowledge, employers increasingly expect practical competencies, professional skills and the right attitudes.
"We are doing almost everything as a University, and we believe industry has an important role to play. Beyond engineering, there are opportunities across business, finance, technology and many other disciplines. Together, we can strengthen internships, build competencies and better prepare our students for the world of work, entrepreneurship and leadership," he said.
Present at the meeting were Dr Charles Nsiah, Finance Officer; Ms Lucy Diawuo, Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs; and Ms Efua Arku, Senior Assistant Registrar at the Vice-Chancellor's Office.
