The 2020/2021 Students Representative Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (SRC-KNUST) has handed over a 32-seater Toyota Coaster Bus worth Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢500,000.00) to the Management of KNUST on Wednesday, 16th March, 2022.
The donation forms part of the 2020/2021 Administration's legacy as they celebrate the SRC's 60 years of existence as a students’ representative body at KNUST, according to Mr. Samuel Sesah, President of the 2020/2021 Administration. He revealed that transporting students to the Faculty Area and for other official assignments was a challenge, hence, their decision to purchase the bus to facilitate easy transportation of students.
Mr. Sesah thanked the Management and the current SRC Executives led by Mr. Michael Abuah, for their support. He hoped that the bus would be put to good use, allowing the current SRC Executives cut-down cost on transportation for official assignments.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, who commissioned the bus, lauded the leadership of the SRC for the initiative to give back to the University. She noted that Management is proud of their partnership with the SRC. She was hopeful that Michael Abuah’s Administration would reciprocate the gesture and do more of such project that would benefit the University.
In his remarks, 2021/2022 SRC President, Mr. Michael Abuah, promised to continue to do more for the students and the University as a whole.
A citation of honour was presented to the Vice-Chancellor for her selfless service to the University and students in general.
The Protestant Chaplain, Rev. Dr. J.W. Acheampong, dedicated the bus.
