The State Insurance Company (SIC) has donated Fifty (50) Lenovo laptops and laptop bags to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The Premier Insurance company made the donation when they paid a courtesy call on the office of the Vice Chancellor.
A four-member team, led by the Kumasi Branch Manager of SIC, Mrs. Adwoa Konadu Asenso-Gyambibi, made the donation on behalf of SIC. This donation forms part of the company’s way of supporting brilliant but needy students through the ‘SONSOL PROJECT’ which was rolled out by the Vice Chancellor of KNUST in 2020.
Mrs. Adwoa Konadu pledged SIC’s commitment to support the University’s long-term plan. She mentioned that SIC and KNUST have had a cordial and long-standing relationship which is mutually beneficial to all parties. She said SIC is happy to support such a noble cause embarked by the University Management to support needy students with laptops to enhance their studies on campus.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor (Mrs) Rita Akosua Dickson received the laptops on behalf of KNUST. She thanked SIC for fulfilling their promise to support the Vice Chancellor’s vision. She said that the University is committed to engaging its stakeholders and others to support the SONSOL PROJECT.
Professor Dickson noted that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the traditional mode of teaching and learning, hence, the introduction of virtual approach. She said that the donation is timely as it would help needy students to participate in the online learning programme rolled out by the University to ensure smooth academic work amid the pandemic.
