A delegation from the Students Chaplaincy Council (SCC) and Christ’s Little Ones (CLONES), KNUST has called on the Vice-Chancellor to discuss the operations of Christ’s Little Ones and the upcoming International Children’s Conference to be held at KNUST.
The SCC Chairman, Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo briefed the Vice- Chancellor about the Christ Little Ones “Help Save a Child (Help SAC) Project” which was the brain child of two alumni of KNUST who upon seeing the plight of underprivileged kids in society decided to provide a home-care unit for these kids. He briefly spoke on the progress of the group.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K. K. Adarkwa was pleased about the worthy motives of the alumni and the group and thanked the delegation for informing him about their progress and plans. He was however concerned about the location of the home-care unit.
The coordinator of Christ’s Little Ones, Mr. Geoffrey Adjaison spoke on the progress of the Project since its commencement in August, 2009. He added that the main aim of the Christ’s Little Ones is to provide less privileged children with food, shelter, education and most importantly groom them in Christ. According to Mr. Adjaison, about 55 children within the Bongo District are being offered free education in a non-fee paying, non-profit making philanthropic school established for the cause. Funds were sourced from about 300 student partners who donate a minimum of GH¢1.00p every month.
Mr. Adjaison also spoke about the partnership of the group with the Campus Christian Family, KNUST, SCC, Child Evangelism Wing of the IHCF, Kids Around the World, LuvCare Ghana and the Child Evangelism Fellowship to organise the International Children’s Conference. This programme is scheduled to come off in May, 2010.
