The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is not only known as a place of academic pursuit. In addition to its recognition in the country and on the continent at large as a higher institution premiering Science and Technology education, it also pays attention to the Social and Religious development of its stakeholders.
As a result, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa has commissioned a Parade Ground for use by the University Community and other stakeholders. The facility has seats for students’ group discussions and social interactions, wireless internet facility to maximize research activities, walkways, slots for banking institutions to operate ATM services, an automatic stand-by plant to provide a 24 hours per week service, among others.
In his address, Prof. Adarkwa talked about some challenges that delayed the progress and commissioning of the project. According to him, there was speculation that the ground was being developed into a drinking spot to promote the sale of alcoholic beverages. This brought about a lot of criticisms from the stakeholders, particularly, the students.
He further stated that upon all the discouragements and accusations, the Parade Grounds is now flexible to be used for all social and religious activities.
Prof. Adarkwa used the opportunity to extend his acknowledgement to the Director of Works and Physical Development, Rev. Oppong and his team, the managers of partner banks and others who tirelessly contributed towards the successful development of the ground. Again, he revealed future plans to construct mini parade grounds across the campus to facilitate relaxation. He called on all interested stakeholders to make good use of the ground.
