Ramapo College of New Jersey, has organised a one-day Leadership Conference on African-American Relations, as part of their yearly visit to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions. The Conference mainly saw a blend of students and Lecturers of the Department of History and Political Studies and Ramapo Students and Lecturers.
Welcoming the participants to the Conference, Dr. Kofi Owusu-Daako, a lecturer at the Department of Applied and Theoretical Sciences thanked Ramapo College for coming up with this conference to share ideas and hoped that KNUST students would do likewise during their visit.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Professor Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, in her keynote address revealed that the collaboration between the two Universities began in 2001 when a Faculty member of Ramapo College offered teaching assistance to KNUST. This collaboration has been enhanced for eighteen years with impressive efforts from both institutions. She expressed her gratitude to Dr. Owusu-Daako for strengthening this relationship during his eight year tenure as the Dean of Students.
Professor Dickson speaking on Ghana’s relationship with United States of America (USA), said, USA is the largest bilateral development partner of Ghana, and the country has benefitted from the United States Agency International Development (USAID) led Interventions geared towards realising potentials.
Lecturers from the Department of History and Political Studies and Ramapo College took participants through African Diaspora and Culture and Themes in Ghanaian History.
In a related development, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri Danso, hosted the Ramapo College delegates, some executives of University Teachers of Ghana (UTAG) and KNUST SRC Executives to a dinner.
The President of the Students’ Governance Association of Ramapo College of New Jersey, Mr. Stephan Lally expressed appreciation for the warm reception and presented Ramapo College souvenirs to the Vice Chancellor.
