The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), Professor Christian Agyare, has officially assumed office as the University's 13th Vice-Chancellor, beginning his first day with the traditional morning devotion at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor before receiving courtesy calls from key stakeholders who pledged their support for his administration.

Addressing staff after the devotion at the Council Chamber, Professor Agyare expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to leading KNUST from "excellence to eminence." He stressed that achieving this vision would require the collective commitment of the entire University community.

"We are going to work together. We have been entrusted with the responsibility of moving this University from excellence to eminence. This is not an event but a continuous journey, and with the support of every member of the KNUST community, I am confident we will succeed," he said.

Professor Agyare underscored the importance of inclusive leadership, collaboration and openness, noting that transformative ideas can emerge from staff at every level of the University.

"Good ideas know no hierarchy. We must listen to one another, value every contribution, and create an environment where everyone feels empowered to participate. Through mutual respect, teamwork and shared purpose, we will continue to strengthen KNUST," he added.

As part of his first official engagements, the Management of the College of Health Sciences, led by the Provost, Professor Fred Stephen Sarfo, paid a courtesy call to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor and reaffirm the College's commitment to supporting his vision for the University.

The KNUST Global Alumni Association, led by its President, Dr. Herman Yobo Addae, also paid a courtesy visit to congratulate Professor Agyare and discuss preparations for the University's 75th anniversary Global Alumni Congress.

Dr. Addae said the Association was working to revive the KNUST Campus Chapter of the Global Alumni Association ahead of the Congress and sought the University's support to mobilise staff and promote greater alumni participation.

Professor Agyare welcomed the initiative and pledged Management's full support, saying efforts to revive the campus chapter should involve the University's leadership.

"Under my leadership, we'll do whatever it takes to make sure that the Association is helping the University. Whatever we are supposed to do, we'll do that," he said.

He also confirmed that Management would support the alumni engagement campaign and participate in promotional activities to encourage greater involvement from alumni.

The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Global Alumni Congress, which forms part of activities marking KNUST's 75th anniversary.
