The International Programmes Office (IPO) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, hosted an orientation session for newly arrived international students on Thursday, 2nd February 2023 at the IPO Singh Guest House. During the orientation which covered important topics on security, health, and counselling, several international students were interviewed to share their first experiences on campus. These students provided valuable insight into their initial impressions of the KNUST.
In an exclusive interview with Binta Nassirou, a social work student from Germany participating in the exchange programme, she shared her first impressions of the University. She stated that the experience has been compelling as she is adapting to a new environment without her family. She expressed her delight in the interactive nature of her lectures and the opportunity to form relationships with new peers. Binta praised the hospitality of staff at the International Programmes Office, stating that it has added to her positive experience at the University.
Justus Benteler, an exchange programme student pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering also disclosed his initial thoughts about the Institution. He expressed his admiration for the green and well-maintained campus environment. He also highlighted the positive aspects of the organised classes and the engaging manner of his lectures. Justus shared his fondness for some of Ghana’s delicacies, such as Jollof rice and Groundnut soup. He looked forward to experiencing more of the local culture and having fun during his time at KNUST.
