A team from the DIPPER Lab at the College of Engineering and the Department of Physics at the College of Science of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has conducted a preliminary assessment of traffic conditions in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency as part of efforts to develop a locally manufactured intelligent traffic-light system.

The assessment follows discussions between the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Mr. John Dumelo, and the Scientific Director of the DIPPER Lab, Prof. Eric Tutu Tchao, on leveraging local expertise to address developmental challenges in the constituency.
The proposed community impact project forms part of KNUST's efforts to apply local research and development expertise in electronics from the Department of Physics, alongside Internet of Things (IoT), distributed and adaptive control technologies from the DIPPER Lab, to develop solutions with direct community impact.
The joint team comprised Prof. Eric Tutu Tchao, Prof. Reuben Tamakloe, Dr. Andrew Selasi Agbemenu, Dr. Edem Donkor and Dr. Henry Nunoo-Mensah.

During the assessment, the team examined selected locations and gathered information on traffic conditions and the technical requirements of the proposed project.
The exercise is expected to inform further technical discussions and help determine the feasibility of developing and deploying a locally manufactured intelligent traffic-light system in the constituency.
