Victor Ampofo popularly known as “Van Damme” a final year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) reading BSc. Construction Technology and Management placed second at the Just ended “Ghana’s Strongest” competition organised by Media General’s TV3 Network.
Mr. Ampofo took part in the rigorous search across the country with auditions in the northern, middle and southern belts, and was among eight men who were finally selected for the 2018 edition of TV3’s Ghana’s Strongest Contest.
The Contest saw bodybuilders going through different challenges purposefully designed to test power, strength, stamina and endurance. Contestants went through five rounds of activity; car pull, farmers walk, cling and jerk, dead-lift and the sack in a pond race at the grand finale.
Mr. Ampofo led by the Dean and Vice Dean of Students, together with some student leaders visited the office of the Vice-Chancellor to show him his prizes. He stated that as a student leader it was an honour to inform management of his victory in the competition. For his prize, he received a trophy, 8,000 cedis cash prize and a certificate.
Rev. Professor Charles Ansah, Pro Vice-Chancellor, commended Mr. Victor Ampofo for doing KNUST proud. He indicated that as management, these are some of the productive activities that KNUST students should engage in. According to the Rev. Prof. Ansah, It is gratifying when students are in the news for positive reasons which bring glory to the institution.
