Francis Azubuike, a first-year Master of Architecture student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi has been elected as President of the Commonwealth Students’ Association (CSA).
Azubuike, a Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholar from Nigeria, secured a decisive 92% of the vote.
The CSA is the single representative body for all students and national student organisations across the Commonwealth’s 56 nations.
Established in 2012 during the 18th Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers in Mauritius, the association was formed to unite students, amplify their voices, and strengthen their role in education and global development.
With its headquarters at the Commonwealth Secretariat, Marlborough House, London, the CSA operates through an Executive Committee of elected student leaders who serve a three-year term.
The body advocates for students’ rights, builds capacity for student organisations, and provides a credible voice in shaping education policy at national, regional, and international levels.
Speaking after his election, Azubuike expressed gratitude to his peers across the Commonwealth for their trust and confidence.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening student representation and ensuring that students remain at the centre of education and development initiatives.
