The KNUST-SRC Parliamentary Council as part of its 10th Anniversary paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso and his team. The visit was led by the Acting Dean of Students, Prof. Wilson Agyare, Speaker of the SRC Parliament Rt. Honorable Benjamin Kissi Sasu, SRC President Kelvin Sah, together with some parliamentarians from the SRC Parliament.
The purpose of the visit was to describe the structures and functions of the SRC Parliament and also to seek advice from the Vice Chancellor and his team on how to improve upon the structure of the KNUST-SRC parliamentary council and student governance in general. The Speaker also used the opportunity to inform him on the activities for the 10th Anniversary celebration and called for support from management. He explained that the anniversary to them is a moment to have a retrospection and learn from the past, focus on current issue and prepare for a better future.
The Vice Chancellor received the delegation warmly and advised that "as student leaders, it is your responsibility to impact society positively and also try to put the University in a positive light at all times"
He encouraged the delegation to continue working with their College Provosts and further asked the Provosts to extend a helping hand to the student leaders when needed.
The Vice Chancellor again addressed some academic and accommodation issues confronting students and thanked the SRC Parliament for their visit.
Professor Ibok Oduro, Provost of College Science, advised the student leaders to be of good standards in their endeavours and asked for a long-term strategic plan to be made as a guide for student governance.
Present at the meeting were Provosts of Colleges of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Arts and Built Environment, Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences and Science.
