The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has been selected to host a 2027 online paper development workshop to help researchers in Ghana and West Africa prepare manuscripts for publication in leading academic journals.
The International Journal of Managing Projects in Business (ijMPB) workshop will provide early-career researchers, women scholars and researchers based in the Global South with direct, low-cost access to feedback from members of the journal’s editorial board.
Professor Emmanuel Adinyira, Dean of KNUST’s Faculty of Built Environment, submitted the successful bid on behalf of a four-institution consortium. Its other members are Ashesi University, University College London’s Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction and Women Academics in Construction.
The bid responded to the journal’s call for proposals to build research capacity in developing countries by helping scholars prepare manuscripts for submission.
Announcing the selection, the journal said “this year's call attracted considerable interest, requiring us to be quite selective in our assessment”.
“The Editorial Team recognised the strong potential of your proposal to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of project management research and scholarly development in Ghana and West African countries. We believe the proposed event offers an excellent opportunity to support doctoral researchers, early-career scholars, and established academics in developing high-quality manuscripts for publication in ijMPB and other leading academic journals”.
The journal also highlighted the proposal’s potential to strengthen collaboration and connect researchers with its editors.
“The review comments were particularly positive regarding the proposal's alignment with the objectives of the PDW series, especially its potential to strengthen research capabilities, foster academic collaboration, and create meaningful opportunities for engagement between researchers and the ijMPB Editorial Team”.
The consortium will develop the workshop jointly with the journal’s editorial team, with KNUST coordinating arrangements and local logistics.
