The Safe Arrivals Team of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has received commendation from senior management for its efforts to support newly admitted international students arriving in Ghana to begin their studies.
The commendation came from the Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Professor Dadson Awunyo-Vitor; the Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Ahmed Agyapong; and his predecessor, Professor Charles Marfo, who encountered the team at the airport.
Professor Agyapong and Professor Marfo expressed appreciation for the initiative and the team's efforts to ensure that international students receive a warm welcome and assistance from the point of arrival.
“You’re doing a great work,” they said.

Professor Awunyo-Vitor also expressed delight at seeing the team visibly positioned at the airport with KNUST identification placards, ready to receive and guide students as they begin their journey to the University.
Professor (Mrs.) Felicity Asiedu-Appiah, Vice-Dean of the KNUST School of Business, and Professor Isaac Kingsley Amponsah of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences also commended the team for its work.

The Safe Arrivals Initiative, which has been running for the past five years, is designed to support the smooth arrival and transition of newly admitted students, particularly international freshmen travelling to Ghana for the first time.
The team, stationed at Kotoka International Airport in Accra and the VIP Bus Terminal, assists international students with their onward journey to Kumasi, where they are received and supported through the next stages of their arrival and registration.
