The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Division Chief, Dr. Carlos Sdralevich and the Country Representative for Ghana, Dr. Albert Touna-Mama have paid a courtesy call on the Management of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) on Saturday, 9th April 2022. This follows an invitation by the Asantehene and Chancellor of the University, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to visit and familiarise themselves with the University.

Professor Rexford Assasie Oppong, who received the officers on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, welcomed them to KNUST and remarked that the University has been on track to teach cutting-edge science and technology skills infused with entrepreneurial expertise. He emphasized KNUST's commitment to e-learning, which provides better efficiency, transparency, accessibility, and improved student performance, among other benefits.
According to Professor Assasie Oppong, the University took note of the difficulties Covid-19 posed to humanity and utilised them to improve its E-Learning capabilities. He concluded that KNUST's desire to be ahead of the curve has spurred more innovation and increased support for the University's online teaching programmes. He sought additional funding to improve the existing E-learning infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of students.

Dr. Carlos Sdralevich, the IMF Division Chief on his part, expressed his gratitude to the University for its development over the past seventy years. The team toured some University facilities including the Oldham Laboratory and the Petroleum laboratories at the College of Science and College of Engineering respectively.
Present at the meeting were Mr. Ernest Sarhene, Protocol Officer at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi and Mr. James Kwasi Oberko, Senior Assistant Registrar, Advancement and Alumni Relations Office.
