Proposals for the opening of a branch of the Ghana Law School at the Faculty of Law (KNUST) have reached advanced stages.
This is to expand access to professional legal education and practise in the country and Africa at large. Briefing the University Relations Office (URO), the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Stephen Offei, disclosed that, the General Legal Council had appointed a four-member team led by her Ladyship Justice Sophia Akuffo (Supreme Court Judge) to facilitate the process of establishing branches of the Ghana Law School at the Faculties of Law at KNUST and Legon.
He confirmed that the team is scheduled to visit KNUST in March, 2010, to discuss matters relating to the proposed opening of the branch of the Ghana School of Law at the Law Faculty at KNUST.
The Dean commented on some of the problems facing the Faculty and hinted that the intake would be cut down in order to reduce the student-lecturer ratio which exceeds the approved standard. Prof. Offei was optimistic that the branch of the Ghana School of Law at KNUST would take off the next Academic Year.
