The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso together with other members of management of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has commissioned G&G Babyworld, a crèche located at the L. I. Andoh building in KNUST. The establishment of the crèche was through the collaborative efforts of Mrs. Gifty Glime, the Manageress of G&G Babyworld and KNUST. The crèche which admits a month old baby to a five year old children has been established to help take care of children and wards of staff during working hours to facilitate the smooth running of the institution.
Professor Obiri Danso in a short speech appreciated Mrs. Gifty Glime, for being part of such a great idea of providing the crèche to cater for the needs of the university community. According to Professor Obiri Danso, the motive for setting up the ultramodern crèche is to show to the public and the University that there can be difference in raising kids. He encouraged the manageress to keep up the good work by ensuring efficient and effective running of the crèche. He finally promised the University’s support in the service delivery.
In an interview with Mrs. Gifty Glime, she indicated that the crèche is opened to University staff and other individuals in the surrounding communities. The crèche houses a classroom, study area, play grounds, beds, kitchenette, and dining area. She stated that currently the crèche can admit only 25 children, and appealed to the University to make available a bigger space in future to accommodate more children. Elaborating on the services offered, Mrs. Glime said that the children would be provided with breakfast and lunch. The crèche she indicated opens at 6:30 a.m. till the last child leaves the premises.
