The provincial Grand Lodge, North of the Ancient Free and accepted Masons of Ghana, has presented a urine analyser to the KNUST Hospital. The equipment , worth $12000, was presented at a colourful dinner celebration, organized to crown the First Annual Communication of the provincial Grand Lodge, North, at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Kumasi City. The Urine analyser is a very useful equipment for the diagnosis of several ailments, especially urinary tract infections.
Presenting the equipment to the Chancellor of the University, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Asantehene, the donor, Nana Osae Nyampong, Provincial Grand Master of the Province North of the Grand Lodge of Ghana, said, it was his singular donation in honour of the Chancellor’s elevation to the Provincial Grand Master status.
The Chancellor, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, was full of praise for Nana Osae Nyampong, for the kind gesture. He said when the equipment was handed to him to decide on the beneficiary, he had no difficulty in selecting the KNUST Hospital, based on the demonstrable performance of the hospital under the able leadership of Dr. Yaw Bio and his management team.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of the University, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. W. O Ellis, explained how appropriate and timely the donation was, to the University Hospital. He disclosed that apart from staff and their dependants, the hospital serves a student population of about 25,000, as well people from all 19 communities surrounding the University.
He said the Hospital has made remarkable strides in the health delivery system, and that, not a single maternal death has occurred within the past three years. He lauded the hospital and requested for more of such donations in the future, like the proverbial Oliver Twist.
Also present at the occasion were the Registrar, Mr. Kobby Yebo-Okrah, the Finance Officer, Mr. K. Adu, the University Relations Officer, Mr. Solomon Panford, and the University Hospital Administrator, Mr. Ofosu Adjare.
