The ECOBANK Ghana PLC has donated Hundred brand-new HP laptop computers in addition to a donation made last year in aid of ‘Support one needy student with one laptop.’ This is in fulfillment of a pledge made to donate 100 computers each year for three successive years. The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo received the delegation at the Council Chamber on Tuesday, 20th December 2022.
According to Mrs. Charlotte Amankwaa, Head of Commercial Banking, the donation is to essentially mark the annual Ecobank Day initiative, whereby the company and its staff give back to society. She noted that this year's celebration focused on promoting financial inclusion and literacy, especially for youth. She believes this would help the brilliant but needy students on their journey to success to build their future and said that the donation is one of the many continuing partnerships they have with the University.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo taking delivery of the computers, expressed KNUST’s delight in the mutual relationship. To him, ECOBANK has demonstrated commitment and ardent support over the years. The vision of KNUST, he stated is to ensure that through robust learning management systems, its students get seamless access to knowledge and research. He, thus, commended the bank for supporting the University in that regard.
Also present at the short ceremony from ECOBANK Ghana PLC were Ms. Rita Nyarko, KNUST ECOBANK Branch head; Ms. Thelma Nartey, Marketing Manager for Commercial Banking; Mr. Michael Owusu-Acheampong, Ashanti Regional Zonal Head; Mr. Abraham Adu Kwarteng, and Mr. Theophilus Nartey.
