The J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board has awarded a certificate to Dr. Christopher Larbie, in the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The Award is in recognition of a successful completion of the Fulbright Scholarship Program as a Fulbright Scholar.
The Counselor for Public Affairs Section of United States (US) Embassy, Roberto Quim, on behalf of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board presented the certificate to him, when delegates from the Public Section of U.S. Embassy together with some beneficiaries of Fulbright Scholarship Program paid a visit to the Pro-Vice Chancellor, KNUST.

The Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, at the short ceremony was appreciative of the relationship that has existed for years between Ghana and United States with regard to education. Notable among the benefits of collaborating with about thirty (30) Universities in the US is in the area of scholarships, staff and student exchange programmes, among others.
In appreciation of J. W. Fulbright Foreign Scholarship, Professor Dickson, assured the delegates of KNUST’s quota to provide land space to support any future project they may want to embark on in KNUST.
Dr. Christopher Larbie undertook a research training at the prestigious FDA Center of Excellence, the National Institute of Natural Products Research, and University of Mississippi, USA. His work which centred on the isolation and purification of bioactive compounds from Acalypha Wilkesiana for the management of liver and kidney diseases was sponsored by the US Department of States through the Fulbright African Research Scholars Program. He was exposed to advanced techniques using NMR and high-resolution mass spectroscopy during his six-month research training.
