The College of Engineering in collaboration with the Kenson School of Production Technology (KSPT), from Trinidad and Tobago, has organised a workshop on the oil and gas industry.
The KSPT was established in 1995 in Trinidad and Tobago to be the leader in training for the energy sector in Trinidad and Tobago, and beyond. The school has developed special alliances and in-house capabilities to deliver training in operations and maintenance, assessment, support skills for technical employees and persons desirous of entering the energy industry. Currently, the School is one of the best institutions offering profitable courses in oil and gas in Trinidad and Tobago.
Through a series of presentations, Mr. Kerland Brathwaite (Manager of the Research and Curriculum Development Department), and Mr. Trevor Collete (Lecturer and a representative from KSPT) enlightened the participants of the workshop on the various sectors of the oil and gas industry. They detailed the history of the oil and gas industry in Ghana, recounted the life of one of the pioneers in the discovery of oil and gas (John D. Rockefeller), listed processes involved in the industry ranging from exploration, drilling, production, well completion, marketing, safety measures and environmental risk hazards in the industry.
Other key areas of the presentations were: transportation of oil and gas, the production of oil and gas, refinery operations, employment, and careers.
Participants of the workshop were presented with certificates.
