A recognised group of taxicab drivers, Campus Embossed Taxi Drivers' Association, has donated assorted items to KNUST Security Services including twenty (20) rechargeable torch lights, two (2) set of clamps, ten (10) reflective vests, and six (6) padlocks as part of efforts to enhance security in the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor W.O. Ellis, received the items on behalf of the University and the Security Services, and expressed his profound gratitude to the Association describing them as stakeholders of KNUST since their service to the University was paramount. He urged them to channel their concerns to the appropriate body for consideration, and called for stronger collaboration to facilitate smoother vehicular movement on Campus.

Professor Ellis stated his dissatisfaction with some drivers who put up questionable and unprofessional behaviour, especially those who use residential areas as detours to avoid road humps. He suggested a review of the database on commercial drivers be carried out periodically in order to clamp down on persons who operated in the University illegally.
The Patron of the Embossed Taxi Drivers' Association, Mr. Kwabena Obiri-Yeboah, a lecturer at the School of Business, in a formal presentation at the Security Staff Barracks, handed over the items to the Head of KNUST Security Services. He praised management of the University, particularly the Vice-Chancellor and staff of the Security Services for their unflinching and continued support given to the Association.

Mr. Obiri-Yeboah advised the authorised commercial drivers to co-operate with the authorities to flush out unathorised drivers who pose a threat to their operations. He, therefore, appealed to all drivers operating within the University to live beyond reproach.
In a related development, the Vice-Chancellor presented a trophy to the Security Staff for their performance, after emerging as the overall best team during the recent Staff Games held on 1st April. The sports competition attracted staff from the various units and departments of the University.
